Obituary for Rose Mary Rathjen
Rose Mary Rathjen, 70, of Virginia Beach, Virginia, passed away November 21, 2021. Rose was born on June 12, 1951 in San Antonio, Texas to John and Josephine Dunn. She was the fourth of ten children.
Rose worked as a Sr. Manager IT Site Support for over 28 years at QVC in Chesapeake, VA. Rose began her career at AT&T in Dallas, Texas on July 12, 1968 where she worked for 17 years before relocating to Chesapeake, VA where she pursued her IT advancement at QVC for almost 29 years. She retired as a Senior Manager IT Site Support on October 6, 2017.
Rose was extremely active in fostering and adopting dogs, especially beagles and volunteered as the Treasurer at Blackwater Fire Rescue Station 13 in Virginia Beach, VA.
Rose is survived by Sisters: Mary Josephine Dunn, three sons, Louise Marie Thompson, two sons and a daughter of Garland, Texas, Agnes Cecilia Johnson, husband John and two daughters of Garland, Texas, Alice Frances Gallegos, husband David and two sons of Sunnyvale, Texas, Anne Theresa Dunn, son and daughter of Dallas, Texas, Juanita Elaine Robertson, son and four daughters of Blossom, Texas. Brothers: Thomas William Dunn of Paris, Texas and Joseph Francis Dunn, wife Holly and one daughter of Dallas, Texas.
Rose was predeceased by her father, John Emmett Dunn, mother Josephine Mary Dunn and brother John E. Dunn.
Rose will always be remembered as a loving and generous sister, aunt and friend.
Funeral mass is at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, 1968 Sandbridge Road, Virginia Beach, VA on November 30, 2021 at 10am. There will be no reception following the funeral mass. Please make any donations to Fire and EMS Station 13 Blackwater.
