Obituary for Betsy Ann McCarroll

Betsy Ann McCarroll
Betsy Ann McCarroll, 64, passed away on Friday, June 8th, 2018 in Chesapeake, Virginia surrounded by family. Born on July 4th, 1953 in Barstow, California, she was the daughter of Earl Blackwelder and Patsy Louise Moen. Betsy worked for many years as a registered nurse in the emergency rooms, intensive care, critical care, and trauma units. It was a career she was immensely proud of.

Betsy was a determined woman who lived life her way, and to the fullest. She had a profound love for all animals, but especially cats. She enjoyed flower gardening, watching classic and science-fiction TV shows, and art (such as drawing, painting, and writing poetry). Her greatest joys in life, however, were her 4 sons, her grandchildren, and taking care of people through her nursing career. Betsy’s greatest accomplishment was her ability to challenge adversity in life to remain independent. She accomplished her goals despite the challenges life threw at her.

She is survived by: her sons: William (Mariacella) McFarland of Agoura Hills, CA, Michael (Susan) McFarland of Virginia Beach, VA, Nathan (Ana) McCarroll of Kokomo, IN, and Patrick (Marianne) McCarroll of Vista, CA; her grandchildren: William McFarland of Agoura Hills, CA, Meghan McFarland of Agoura Hills, CA, Madison McFarland of Agoura Hills, CA, Jacob McFarland of Virginia Beach, VA, Joshua McFarland of Virginia Beach, VA, Joseph McFarland of Virginia Beach, VA, Angel Ioaiza of Oceanside, CA, Aaron McCarroll of Oceanside, CA, Nathaniel McCarroll of Oceanside, CA, Mya McCarroll of Oceanside, CA, Cheyenne Johnston of Oceanside, CA, Brenten McCarroll of Oceanside, CA, Bethany McCarroll of Oceanside, CA, Ben McCarroll of Oceanside, CA, Justice Siliga of Oceanside, CA, Taimanei McCarroll of Oceanside, CA, Maxximus Siliga of Oceanside, CA, and Imani Siliga of Oceanside, CA, her sister Marilyn (Constantine) Berdusis and their children: Ana, Dimi and Alex of Chicago, IL, and her brother David (Traci) Herren of Oxnard, CA.

She was preceded in death by her mother, father and beloved sister Marjorie Holman.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 4th, 2018 at 10:00 am at Family Choice Burials & Cremations located at 5401 Indian River Road Virginia Beach, VA 23464. A celebration of life will be held after the memorial service at the McFarland household located at 904 Laurie Ct, Virginia Beach, VA 23464 at 1pm.

Floral contributions may be sent to Family Choice Burials and Cremations for the memorial service.
