Robert S. Clark passed away March 15, 2018. He will forever be remembered as the “real” Santa by family and friends. Born in Norfolk, VA on January 25, 1934, he was the son of Earl Edward Carney and Mary Marshall Clark and his beloved step-father William Bernard Clark. Predeceased by his parents, a son Robert Clark, Jr., a daughter Brenda Carter, a granddaughter Charlotte Maloney, and 2 great grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 50 years Nora, daughters Linda Frye, Patti James, Sharon Tyler (Billy), Donna Moore (John), Robyn Maloney (Chris), and Rhonda Kelly (David), brother Douglas Clark (Jackie), 18 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren, as well as a host of other relatives.
Bob loved his family, NASCAR, fishing, crossword puzzles, and trains. A jack-of-all-trades, he mastered many; his skills will be missed by everyone. His work experiences varied from working for Norfolk & Western Railroad, driving a race car, owning a carpentry business, driving long distance trucks, building playgrounds, and serving in the mission field visiting the countries of Brazil and Ecuador where he used his skills to help build churches. He spent 16 years serving the Lord at Bethel Christian Camp in Columbia, SC. His favorite job was playing Santa Claus at Chesapeake Square and Greenbrier Malls.
Bob attended River Oak Church located at 255 Great Bridge Blvd, Chesapeake, VA 23320 which is where his memorial service will be held on Saturday April 14 at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that monetary gifts be made in Bob’s memory to Bethel Christian Camp 750 Boy Scout Rd. Gaston, SC 29053 to provide scholarships for underprivileged children to attend summer camp.
