Jessie Beatrice (Swingler) Irvin was born in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania on June 30, 1940, she was the fifth of nine children born to Jesse and Lillian (Hunter) Swingler.
Her education was through our public school system in Philadelphia. Jessie spent her working life in the Electronic and Office Technician profession. She was employed at the OIC of America, Inc. for 20 years, which Reverend Leon H. Sullivan was the Chairman and Founder. She went on to work for the City of Philadelphia’s Health Personnel Office until her retirement in the year of 2002.
She was married to Larry Lane on July 29th, 1957. Jessie was united in marriage to her second husband Richard H. Irvin on November 20th, 1982
Jessie was mother to five lovely daughters, Lanettia, Myra, Debra, Joyce and Jackie. Her handsome Son, Larry. She was Grandmother to nine Grandchildren Nate-Nate, Shontel, Tiana, Tiffany, Brandy, Jessie, Domonique, Kareem and Ziare and Great-Grandmother to 33 wonderful Great-Grandchildren.
She also leaves behind Son-In-Laws Nate Jackson, James Wimberly, Paul Barksdale, Barry Jones. Also, her Daugher-In-Laws, Anett Lane and Pam Lane.
The Visitation for Jessie B. Irving will be on Tuesday, November 21st, 2017 at Family Choice Funerals and Cremations at 5401 Indian River Rd in Virginia Beach. A Memorial Service will follow at 11 a.m.
