Obituary for Jan Bauder

Jan Bauder
Mary Janette (Jan) Bauder, 78, was welcomed into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, June 26, 2017. She worshipped and served in Kempsville Presbyterian Church. Jan lived a bountiful life of labor, service, love, and ministry. She was a gifted and creative Christian educator who taught in various settings. She was always focused on God and others, and exemplified Matthew 10:38, “If you cling to your life, you will lose it; but if you give it up for me (Jesus), you will save it.”
In her younger years Jan was an Interior Designer with a love for the up and coming fashion trends. After graduation from college, God called her to write, and gave her a desire to research, write and teach accurate history. Jan was a playwright, writing and producing many historical and Biblical plays and skits. Jan and her husband George, partnered in researching, writing and teaching America’s Christian history, with an emphasis on the charters and dedications of “Virginia-America” to God. Some of their self-published books, under the name Patriot Prints, include The Dedication- Rediscovering America’s Christian History Hidden for Years, The Land God Promised (a play), A Brief Time Line of American History, The Truth for a Change, Virginia-America’s Christian 400th, 1607-2007, Richard Hakluyt’s Contribution. They reprinted many primary source documents especially The Charters of Virginia, 1606-1621. They also produced many children’s materials, such as A Yearly and Perpetual Thanksgiving Day, a history coloring book. George and Jan gave Christian history tours in costume, at the First Landing site and at Jamestown. They were active with organizations that promoted America’s Christian history: their church, StoneBridge School, Regent University, and The Foundation for American Christian Education.
With a giving heart and loving nature Jan shared with many in need and devoted her life to God. She was fervent in prayer. Even in her last year of life, she was passionate to share the gospel and true history with those in her assisted-living facility.
She was predeceased by her parents Ralph Edwin and Gladys Giesler and her loving husband George. She is survived by a brother, Ralph Dave Giesler and his wife Anita Giesler, nieces Lynn M Diaz, Debbie McClure, Monica Sweesy, Annette Scott, and nine great nieces and nephews.
We will celebrate her life of constant devotion to the Lord, family and others on Friday June 30th at 7 pm at Kempsville Presbyterian Church in Virginia Beach.
