Meade Earl McCubbin went home to be with the Lord on November 13th, 2016, one week shy of his 92nd birthday. Born in Glen Rock, PA on November 20, 1924, Meade was the son of the late Stacey McCubbin and Estella Bush McCubbin. He attended Washington Aircraft Trade School and worked briefly for American Airlines until he was inducted into the US Army Air Corps in 1943. During WWII, he was initially assigned to the V.I.P. Squadron at LaGuardia Field, NY, then volunteered for service in North Africa where he became a flight engineer on C-54’s, shuttling combat troops from Casablanca to Natal, Brazil. He received the European African Middle Eastern Theater service citation. Afterwards, he worked for American Airlines as a maintenance instructor and supervisor at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport until he retired in 1980. Meade also had success in real estate ventures in northern Virginia. He was a member of Elmer Timberman Lodge No. 54 in Annandale, VA, the Kempsville Masonic Lodge #196 and the Khedive Shrine in Chesapeake.
